Im suprised at the one review that gave them such a low rating. I have been there several times, both for lunch and Dinner, and Ive been with people who suffer from food alergies as well as with finicky kids. The food was good. Quite good. Im no expert, but I know many people who are greek and who speak volumes about the food. As for them being out of Hummus, I dont doubt it since its popular and very good. The Tzatziki at costco isnt something I can comment on, but considering that I make it fresh myself with fresh lemons, greek style yogurt (not Dannon yogurt or god forbid sour cream), Fresh cucumber, etc.... I know what good Tzatziki sauce should taste like. That being said, some people may get accustomed to the packaged store bought sauces that are so readily available. Whats good to one may not be to another. All I know is that I grew up with a mediterranean heritage. Im Italian with parents who lived in Greece. So im fortunate to have been raised with some serious "good eats". I almost ordered the Chicken parmesan but didnt only because I assumed it wouldnt be as good as what I grew up with. When I saw it brought to another table I was suprised at how good it looked. As for the other review I noticed it said they went there after finding out that two other local restaurants had been closed. It must have been later than they said because I dont know of any restaurants that closes before 8pm, but if in fact Platters was open after other restaurants had closed then that says something by itself. It tells me that after finding a restaurant that closed for the night, the previous reviewer then ventured to find another place only to find that it too was closed. Using their words they "Finally" ended up at Platters. I can only assume that there was quite a bit of time that went by since the first restaurant closed for the night and Platters still remained open. I too might be fatigued after searching and wanting to finally eat. Maybe it was their mood (we all have a day like that), but I will only say two other things before I finish with what my experience was. First, I NEVER judge a restaurant by how crowded it is/isnt at the time of night when other places have closed. I tend to temper my expectations is all. Second, regardless of any updating that one may have an opinion on, I have never found that to be a yard stick of measurement when reviewing food. Again, perhaps the only reason it stood out to them was because of their mood. I cant say for sure, however im just trying to level the playing field here for a truly good restaurant that I personally am glad I found. How do I measure a restaurant? The food of course! The diverse menu at Platters was suprising. If they only had Mousaka the menu would be complete for me! I had a nice time in the lounge on one visit and the staff was more than happy to give me ideas on places to visit while on my trip. I was virtually given a "Must go here.... have to go there... gotta try this...". What made the difference for my wife is that the allergies my wife suffers from is something that the waitress took seriously. My wife is allergic to eggs. When we asked about the ingredients the waitress double checked to make certain it was safe, and she also went as far as to recommend some substitutions that they could do if my wife felt more at ease about it. We typically feel that we are asking a restaurant to bend over backwards when talking about allergies, so it was a real nice experience for all of us. Anyone with allergies or who has someone with food allergies in their family will know what I mean. So if all of that isnt enough to have them as a viable dining option I have one other reason. Their prices. Frankly If I were them Id charge more because where else are you going to find Chicken Parmesan for less than $10... Go ahead.... Im waiting... Seriously. When I go out with my family, have a good time, find that we all like the food, my kid actually eats, my allergy sufferer of a wife feels safe, the people are super friendly, and the price makes you look twice. Sign me up. When im in the area again Im going back. The only reason I gave it 2 dollar signs is because 1 dollar sign would make it sound like a dive, and its not. Now if I can only find out how to get them to put Mousaka on the menu!

This little spot is hit or miss. I came here one day and the chicken fried steak breakfast was one of the best I had ever eaten. This morning, the biscuits were dry and clearly not baked this morning. I've noticed that when the snow birds are here and business is good (Season), the food and service are better and more consistent. In the off season, when the breakfast rush consists of 4 tables - both the service and food are a little less than the quality I know this place is capable of.

First time here, had breakfast it was good . Waitress was sloppily dressed, dirty top, underware showing in back of pants and not a very good waitress either. I hate to rate a place on the staff, if I did I would not be back! But will try again for lunch or dinner another time.

We tried to find this restaurant on our Garmin but the location had changed a number of years ago so went looking on yelp and found their new location. I read the review and decided to try them out especially after reading the high praise that was given. He was right on. We are here from Ontario, Canada and both enjoy Greek cuisine and had Pastichio and were very happy with the presentation, the amount and the price. We are here till the end of the week so will try them for lunch and maybe breakfast

We were looking to eat somewhere in town one night, and unfortunately for us it was almost 8p. We had tried two other restaurants before and they were both closed and we finally arrived at Platters. The restaurant could use a remodel as it is very outdated. We were promptly seated as there were only two other tables occupied in the restaurant. Our waitress was pleasant and personable. I ordered a cappuccino which arrived in an attractive glass but had an inch of whip cream on top. The cappuccino itself tasted like it was made from a powdered mix added to water. We wanted to start with some pita and hummus but were informed they were out of the hummus. Isn't that a staple in Greek restaurants? We ordered a plate to share instead. It was a variety platter with pork, chicken, and gyro. We received two bread rolls as a side to our meal. I picked one up and it was soaked in butter. There was even a pool of butter underneath. The platter wasn't much better. The chicken and pork were both on skewers. The pork was wrapped in bacon (I don't remember reading that on the menu) and was tough. The chicken was also a bit tough. The gyro meat however...what can I say? It was a preformed piece; not freshly sliced off a big chunk of meat spinning on a rotisserie. I'm sure the piece must have been frozen as well. There was a bowl of tzatziki which was ok; Costco has better. There was also bland pita bread and unsalted, previously frozen fries to accompany the platter. Overall our meal was very disappointing, even for Lake Placid. We will not be returning nor do we recommend going there.
